Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish liquid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered many other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A senior official commented the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
